Diabetes center announces director

Jacob “Jed” Friedman will take over as head of the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center and associate vice provost for diabetes programs at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center on Jan. 1.

Friedman was director of the Colorado Program in Nutrition and Healthy Developmen­t at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He also was director of the National Institutes of Health Nutrition and Obesity Research Center in Colorado and a professor who led research teams.

Dr. Jason Sanders, senior vice president and provost at the OU Health Sciences Center, said Friedman will help the center recruit talented researcher­s and compete for grants.

FLU SHOT EXTENSION: The Oklahoma City-County Health Department will extend its flu shot clinic hours until 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at its Southern Oaks campus, 6728 N Hudson. The shots are free and available for anyone 6 months or older.
