Inmate death is sixth of the year at Oklahoma County jail
An investigation is underway into another inmate death at the Oklahoma County jail, a sheriff’s spokesman reported.
Sindi Lucille Spray, 24, was found unresponsive at the jail about 5 p.m. Sunday. Medical staff members at the jail tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office reported.
Spray is the sixth inmate to die at the jail this year.
Spray had been charged with offering to engage in prostitution by using computers in Oklahoma County.
She placed a sex ad online and agreed to meet an undercover Oklahoma City police detective at a Studio 6 motel on Tinker Diagonal in Midwest City. At the motel, she offered the detective sex in exchange for $100 up front and $100 later.
Spray had failed to appear at a court hearing, and a bench warrant was issued, court records show. She was arrested in Pottawatomie County and taken to the Oklahoma County jail on Thursday, the sheriff’s office reported
Sunday, inmates alerted jailers that Spray was unresponsive in her cell.
The state medical examiner’s office will determine a cause of death, the sheriff’s office reported.
Once an investigation is complete, a report on the case will be made to the district attorney’s office for review, according to the sheriff’s office.
