Just because the high school football season is over, the hits didn’t stop for Christian Heritage guard Zach Hale.

A little more than a week removed from his last football game as CHA’s starting quarterback and defensive back, Hale was already suiting up on the hardwood for the basketball team.

Early in Friday's game against Class 2A No. 1-ranked Dale, Hale dived to the floor for a loose ball and busted his chin open. The resulting gash had to be stitched closed.

It didn’t stop Hale as he came back to score the game-winning tip in basket as time expired as Class 3A No. 16 Christian Heritage won 55-53.

“I just happened to position myself in the right spot,” Hale said. “It was super cool. I didn't know if we'd come back this soon because the hardest thing is getting back into shape.

"But I'm glad I was able to help."

On Saturday, CHA was able to take down another highly ranked Class 2A team, dispatching Vanoss 78-60.

Yukon's Olsen commits to Navy

For the second straight year, an Olsen is heading to the Naval Academy.

Yukon's Owen Olsen announced Monday afternoon that he was committing to play football for Navy, joining his older brother Perry Olsen. Perry was a freshman for the Midshipmen this season.

At 6-foot-3, and 205 pounds, Owen Olsen played linebacker and receiver for Yukon in Class 6A-I. He recorded 67 total tackles, six tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks this past season.

On offense, the senior caught nine passes on a run-heavy team, scoring three times.

Edmond Santa Fe's Pope heading to Missouri State

Edmond Santa Fe senior defensive end Michael Pope announced he was committing to Missouri State.

Pope, a 6-4, 220-pounder, collected 54 tackles and four sacks this season.

Pope will join fellow Class 6A-I defensive standout Will Taylor of Putnam City North in choosing Missouri State.
