Friday’s extended Livestock report from the Oklahoma City Stockyards: Oklahoma Combined Weekly Auction Summary. Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report and Cow and Bull Report for the week of December 17 through Thursday. Receipts: 25,831; Last Week: 20,979; Last Year: 10,503 Compared to last week: Combined weighted average report for Oklahoma auctions. 6 Auctions reported this week: Ada, El Reno, McAlester, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Woodward. Apache was closed this week for the Holidays. Feeder steers sold mostly steady to $3 higher. Feeder heifers steady to $8 lower. Steer calves sold steady to $6 higher and heifer calves steady to $8 higher. Demand moderate to good for all classes. Many buyers looking to fill their pens space before many auctions close for the Holidays. Unseasonab­ly warm weather was present across the trade area this week and looks to continue into most of next week. Supply included 55 percent over 600 lbs.; 39 percent heifers. SLAUGHTER CATTLE No live trades have been reported in Texas and few have traded in Kansas at $119. Slaughter cattle in Nebraska traded mostly $1-$2 higher for dressed sales, live sales not well tested. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday noon totaled about 65,000 head. Last week’s total head count was 72,805 head. USDA’S Cattle on Feed Report: Cattle on feed as of December 1, 2018 totaled 11.7 million head, 105 percent of a year ago. Placements of cattle in the feedlots during November totaled 2 million head, 95 percent of a year ago. Cattle weighing under 600 lbs. 27 percent of the total placements; 600-700 lbs. 25 percent; 700-800 lbs. 21 percent; 800-900 lbs. were 16 percent; over 900 lbs. were 11 percent of the total placements. Marketing’s of fed cattle during the month of November totaled 1.87 million, 101 percent of a year ago. Western Cornbelt Direct Lean Hog Base Price weighted average price of packers bids on a carcass basis delivered to packing plants as of Friday noon was $42.91.
