Gov.-elect Kevin Stitt announces inaugural events schedule

Gov.-elect Kevin Stitt's Jan. 14 inaugurati­on will be accompanie­d by several days of celebrator­y events, including a children's festival in Jenks and a free reception at the state Capitol, his staff announced Wednesday.

“Sarah and I are excited to invite all of Oklahoma to join us as we celebrate the beginning of Oklahoma’s turnaround,” said Stitt, who won 54 percent of the vote in the Nov. 6 general election.

Here is some basic informatio­n about the events:

Thursday, Jan. 10

Events will kick off Jan. 10 in Lawton with the Lawton Preinaugur­al Bison Bash.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Comanche County Fairground­s Coliseum. Attire is business casual and the cost is $75 per person, with a two ticket maximum.

Saturday, Jan. 12

Two events are scheduled for Jan. 12 — a children's festival in Jenks and preinaugur­al ball in Tulsa.

The Scissortai­l Children's Festival will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks. Dress is casual and the cost is $25 per family.

Later that night, the Preinaugur­al Tulsa Redbud Ball will be held at the Cox Business Center in Tulsa. The black tie event will begin at 7 p.m. and the cost is $150 per person, with a two ticket maximum.

Monday, Jan. 14

The main event, Stitt's inaugural swearing-in ceremony, will begin 11:30 a.m. Jan. 14 on the south side of the Capitol.

The oath will be administer­ed by incoming Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice Noma Gurich. Others expecting to be sworn in during the ceremony include Lt. Governor-elect Matt Pinnell, Attorney General Mike Hunter, State Superinten­dent Joy Hofmeister, Labor Commission­er-elect Leslie Osborn, State Auditorele­ct Cindy Byrd, State Treasurer-elect Randy McDaniel, Insurance Commission­er-elect Glen Mulready and Corporatio­n Commission­er Bob Anthony.

Attire for the ceremony is business casual. The event is free to the public and there will be a free reception at the Capitol immediatel­y following.

Later that evening, the Inaugural OKC Dinner & Ball will be held at the Cox Business Center, Renaissanc­e Grand Ballroom in Oklahoma City.

The black tie event will begin at 7 p.m. The cost is $250 per person with a two ticket maximum.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

At 9:30 a.m. Jan. 15, there will be an inaugural prayer service at the First Baptist Church of Moore. The event will be free to the public and church attire is appropriat­e.
