A day after he sidestepped questions regarding the possibility he will be Tennessee’s next offensive coordinator, Oklahoma State’s Mike Yurcich appeared as a candidate for another notable position.

Yurcich, who has been the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator since 2013, is “a name to watch” to become Ohio State’s offensive coordinator, per a report from Letterman Row’s Austin Ward. Yurcich, 43, is a native of Euclid, Ohio.

“I know you guys gotta do your job, and my job is to prepare this team for Missouri,” Yurcich said Thursday when asked about the Tennessee reports. “It’s that particular time of year where speculation occurs. It’s occurred for several years in a row. I would just hate to take any time away, and any attention away, from our preparation, and send these seniors out as winners this season.”

After Ohio State coach

Urban Meyer announced his intent to retire after the Buckeyes’ Rose Bowl appearance, his offensive coordinator, Ryan Day, was announced as his replacement. Day is seemingly in pursuit of a new offensive coordinator.

Yurcich made $800,000 as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator this season. Day made $1.2 million in the same role for the Buckeyes.

Mizzou’s Drew Lock grateful for Josh Henson’s guidance

Drew Lock’s last game at Missouri will be against the man who was his offensive coordinator for his first game as a Tiger.

Oklahoma State offensive line coach Josh Henson was running the Missouri offense when Lock was a freshman. Asked about their relationship on Friday, in advance of Monday’s Liberty Bowl, Lock spoke strongly about the importance of Henson in his development as a quarterback.

So much so that Lock sought out Henson while the teams were on their shopping spree at Bass Pro Shops on Thursday night.

“He had to deal with a very young quarterback, and that’s never an easy spot for any OC,” Lock said. “I appreciated every opportunity he gave me to step on that field.

“I told him ... ‘Whether you remember it or not, you told me it was gonna be a process. You told me it was gonna be OK. You calmed me down after every single game, really.’ That’s something I’m really appreciative of him.”
