Council ballot hearing set

Attorneys for Ward 5 Councilman David Greenwell have asked the Oklahoma Supreme Court to decline to hear challenger Steve Hunt's bid to be reinstated to the Feb. 12 city council primary election ballot. The Oklahoma County Election Board bumped Hunt from the ballot after finding he failed to meet a requirement that he be a registered voter in Ward 5 for six months before filing for office. Greenwell's attorneys say that, unless the Election Board abused its discretion and acted arbitrarily, the court ought to decline to assume original jurisdiction in the matter. The court has set a hearing Thursday morning before referee Kyle Rogers on the question.
