Paintings “Influenced by Nature” and the flat, abstract power of the picture plane, are on view at Myriad Botanical Gardens, 301 E Reno Ave.

The show of oil paintings by married artists Anthony Dyke and Susan Morrison-Dyke runs through Jan. 31.

A Vermont native, Anthony Dyke is an artist-educator who relocated from New York City to Oklahoma City two decades ago.

A turquoise band suggests a stretch of ocean under a scumbled blue sky, visible beyond a field ready for “Harvest” of wheat-like colors in one of his oils.

A vertical yellow band with an orange “base” suggests a derrick in his “Oil Field,” while multiple marks on the surface of a “Pond” bring to mind Monet.

A recognizable, but partly unfinished red stool and tan lounge chair give a more realistic office or studio interior feel to his large “Lumiere” oil canvas.

Susan Morrison-Dyke is an Oklahoma native, artist and educator, who returned from New York City to Oklahoma City in 1996.

Morrison-Dyke described her grid informed oils as “refined and raw,” using color to evoke “both naturalistic and non-naturalistic light.”

Drips and darker patches of color accent a rough pink, red and brown grid of “Rose Tinted Studio Windows,” in one of her oils.

In another, a curving black line suggests the mark of a “Matchstick,” amid large blue windows.

The show is recommended.
