Midwest City routs Lawton Eisenhower

Midwest City had five scorers in double digits on its way to winning the inaugural Mustang Holiday Classic boys basketball tournament on Saturday.

Senior guard JD Ray led the way for the Bombers with 26 points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds as Class 6A No. 4-ranked Midwest City beat Class 5A No. 7 Lawton Eisenhower 81-57.

Midwest City got most of it work done offensivel­y from the interior, doubling up Lawton Ike 54-26 in points in the paint.

In addition to Ray, Midwest City got 19 points from Makale Smith, 11 points from Jacobi Johnson and 10 points from L.J. Gurley.

Lawton Eisenhower’s Antonio Gordon, a Kansas State signee, led the way for his team with 21 points, six rebounds and three blocks.

Ray and Gordon were both named to the all-tournament team. Smith was named tournament MVP.

Edmond North claims girls crown

Edmond North was able to grind out a win against the hometown favorite.

Facing off with host Mustang for the girls title of the Mustang Holiday Classic, Edmond North got 15 points from Graycen Holden and 12 points from Kamri Heath to win 47-38 on Saturday night.

Holden, who was named tournament MVP, also contribute­d six rebounds and a steal. Heath chipped in four rebounds and three steals and earned all-tournament team honors.

Mustang was led by Cur’Tiera Haywood, who led all scorers with 17 points while also grabbing nine rebounds. Haywood was named to the all-tournament team.

Del City takes down Putnam North for Ardmore tournament title

Del City boys basketball continued its hot start to the season on Saturday as it took down defending Class 6A champion Putnam North for the Ardmore Holiday Classic championsh­ip.

Montre Crutchfiel­d scored 12 points while Nate Goodlow added 11 points as Del City beat the Panthers 63-43 to claim the tourney title.

Goodlow was named to the all-tournament team, while junior forward Kyren Williams was named tournament MVP.

Senior Trey Green scored 28, and sophomore Matt Stone scored 25 as Class 4A No. 1-ranked Kingfisher beat Class 6A No. 5 Putnam West 77-56 to finish third at the Tulsa Tournament of Champions ... Dadrion Taylor led Carl Albert with 12 points, while Quentin Woodson and Maurice Cudjo

each added 10 points as Carl Albert beat Tulsa Central 61-47 ... Olivia Curtis and Rylee Langerman each scored 24 points as Christian Heritage took care of Pocola 72-46 ... Karly Gore scored 19 points, and sister Macy Gore

added 11 as Class A Seiling routed Class 6A Owasso 58-40.
