Treating neck and back pain without drugs or surgery
Chronic neck and back pain can seriously affect the quality of life, especially for people over 50. Finding relief without surgery or drugs can be a challenge. Now, there is hope for pain sufferers with individualized treatments offered by Renuva Back & Pain Centers in Oklahoma City.
“Neck pain is common among older adults,” said Dr. Michael Riley, D.C., founder of Renuva Back and Pain Centers. “Neck pain can occur anyplace from the bottom of the head to the top of the shoulders. The onset of neck pain is often associated with activities that strain the neck or an injury like whiplash. In many cases, neck pain can reduce range of motion in the head and neck.”
Back pain may occur more frequently and be even more debilitating.
“Back pain is a very common symptom experienced by most people at some point in life,” Riley said. “In fact, after common colds, back pain is the second most common reason for doctors’ visits each year.”
Riley said Renuva’s approach to treating both focuses on finding the
cause of pain and not just masking the pain. What causes neck pain? Neck pain may be the result of anything from slouching, sleeping with the neck twisted, looking upward for extended periods of time, to whiplash from a car accident or fall. It may also be a result of more serious medical conditions like spinal stenosis or arthritis.
Symptoms may include stiffness or severe pain in the neck, pain down the shoulders and arms, numbness, tingling or weakness in the arms, headaches, and decreased range of motion.
“The problem is that neck pain is typically a symptom of a medical condition, not a diagnosis,” Riley said. “Often, these symptoms are treated but the biomechanical and physiological conditions causing the neck pain are not.”
What causes back pain? Low back pain may be caused by overuse, strain or injury, degenerative disc disease, herniated or bulging disc, arthritis, or compression fractures. Symptoms may include dull, burning or sharp pain, muscle tightness or stiffness, shooting pain, numbness or tingling down the legs.
Upper and middle back pain may be caused by strain or injury to the muscles, ligaments, and discs that support the spine, poor posture, a fracture of one of the vertebrae, spinal stenosis, spondylitis, fibromyalgia or osteoarthritis.
In all of these cases, Renuva’s proprietary CoreCareTM treatment plan offers a nonsurgical and drug-free approach that addresses both the symptoms and the cause of neck and back pain. CoreCare sets Renuva apart from other pain management clinics. The goal with each patient is to correct the problem and promote healing, not to simply mask the pain.
“Only a handful of the medical schools in the U.S. offer courses or training on chronic pain conditions,” said Oklahoma City’s Renuva director, Dr. Gerald Dr. Gerald Flores, D.C. “Plus, chronic pain cases are complex and require extra time with patients which is something the insurance companies discourage.”
That’s why Renuva developed CoreCare.
CoreCare is a nonsurgical and drug-free treatment developed by Riley over the course of 15 years.
“There are two unique factors to CoreCare: The synergy that comes from the therapies working together and the treatment procedures, which include science-based techniques, methods and algorithms,” Riley said.
He described the CoreCare treatment protocol as a five-phase scientific approach that applies FDA-cleared technologies and therapies in a way that is methodical and proven to be effective to address three areas that are key to achieving lasting pain relief:
• Treat the source of the neck pain to achieve relief as fast as possible.
• Improve structure to fight against and prevent degenerative related conditions that cause neck and back pain.
• Restore function so the body can heal properly and fight against diseaserelated conditions that cause the pain.
The Oklahoma Citybased back pain center offers a no-obligation consultation with two CoreCare treatments for only $59. Patients can meet with a Renuva doctor to discuss their medical history and talk about their symptoms. Patients will also have time to ask questions about their condition and any concerns they may have.
Also included with the consultation is an exam with a full evaluation, including a full digital spine scan and X-rays, if needed, to pinpoint the cause of the patient’s pain. During an initial exam, a Renuva doctor will identify if you are a candidate for the CoreCare treatment. The examination process seeks to identify the exact cause of the neck or back pain before giving a treatment recommendation.
This package is normally $257, but Renuva is offering it currently for $59. The $59 offer with two CoreCare treatments is only good until Jan. 15. The Renuva Back & Pain Center in the Oklahoma City area is located at 5601 NW 72nd Street, Suite 312 in Warr Acres. Call 405782-2316 for more information.
