Aaliyah Moore wanted the foul shot and perhaps she had even earned it.

“And one!” she yelled pumping her fist after an impressive shot falling away from the basket following contact.

There was no free throw, but the moment still served its purpose. It was the backbreaking moment in No. 10-ranked Moore’s 67-56 upset of No. 5 Edmond Santa Fe on Tuesday night at Moore High School.

“It just kind of came out,” Moore said. “I couldn’t do it without my teammates. They created space and it went in.”

But Moore was held scoreless in the opening half, running into foul trouble. Point guard

Ashanti Day stepped up with 17 of her 19 points in the half.

Moore, a 6-foot-3 sophomore with Division I offers from all over, owned the final 16 minutes, though. She scored all 19 of her points and grabbed five of her nine rebounds in the second half.

She was simply unstoppable when the upstart Lions (6-2) needed her most.

“It’s a really big win for us because it shows what we can do in crunch time and we can beat a top-five team,” Moore said. “It’s just going to help us.”

Millwood rolls past Carl Albert

It only took a few possessions before legendary Millwood coach Arnelia

Spears had seen enough. Trailing by six 2 minutes in against Carl Albert, Spears called a timeout and stood on the sideline looking at her starting five with disbelief etched on her face.

“I did not like the way we came out,” Spears said. “We were flat and not running the offense. I told them to set it up and run it like we practiced.”

Her Millwood girls listened.

The Falcons ran off a 22-0 run into the second and went on to beat Carl Albert 56-34.

Nykale Cramer led the way for Millwood, scoring 16 points and grabbing five rebounds. Junior forward

Cymirah Williams came off the bench to add 14 points, nine rebounds and two steals.

Stat line of the night

Even though Edmond Santa Fe (9-3) lost, North Texas signee Keira Neal had a huge night with 15 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, two assists and a steal. 1,000-point club Oklahoma Christian Academy’s Tresha Yager is the latest to reach 1,000 career points in the area. She scored 13 points in a 47-21 rout of Heritage Hall.

Top scorer

Deer Creek junior Skylar

Vann scored 30 points, but it wasn’t enough to top Mustang. The Broncos won 56-53 behind Cur’ Tiera Haywood’s 18 points.
