Former Edmond Santa Fe and Utah Jazz player Ekpe Udoh was in Oklahoma City this week to promote healthy eating

Udoh partners with OSU-OKC

Ekpe Udoh is all about healthy eating. It's why the Edmond native and Utah Jazz center was back in Oklahoma City this week for a unique partnership with Oklahoma State University.

Udoh visited OSUOKC on Thursday to announce a partnership between the school and his Edmond-based hydroponic farming company, LGR Farms.

As part of the partnership, OSU-OKC will host an LGR Farms hydroponic shipping container inside the OSU-OKC Farmers Market pavilion. Vertically-grown lettuce, kale and an assortment of leafy greens fill the 40-foot- long container. The pesticide- and herbicide-free crops are fed with nutrients and filtered water and nurtured by LED lights in a temperaturecontrolled environment.

“I'm excited to explore this partnership with OSU-OKC,” Udoh said. “Together we can teach students and spread awareness of safe and healthy eating.”

Udoh's company sells its produce from its headquarters in Edmond and at local markets. The former Edmond Santa Fe and Baylor University standout launched LGR Farms in July with the hopes of increasing awareness of healthy food options for metro-area schoolchildren, while also producing enough food to supply local schools with healthy food options.

The penalty announced Thursday by Kiki VanDeWeghe, the NBA's executive vice president of basketball operations, was for Kerr's actions in a 127-107 loss at Portland on Wednesday night.

Kerr screamed at referee Ken Mauer, smashed his clipboard, and was given two technical fouls and ejected with 3:54 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Tip-Ins

KNICKS 106, HAWKS 91: Dennis Smith Jr. scored 19 points and the New York Knicks snapped a franchise-worst, 18-game losing streak with a victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night.

The Knicks ended their longest skid within a single season with their first victory since Jan. 4 at the Los Angeles Lakers. New York, with the Eastern Conference's worst record and second-worst overall, had dropped 26 of 27.

Kadeem Allen and John Jenkins each added 14 points. Damyean Dotson finished with 13 points and DeAndre Jordan had 13 rebounds for New York, which never trailed and only was tied twice, in the second quarter.

MAGIC 127, HORNETS 89: The Orlando Magic couldn't have delivered a sweeter Valentine's Day victory. Or a more dominant one.

Six players reached double figures as the Magic snapped a 13-game losing streak to the Charlotte Hornets with an emphatic victory Thursday night at Amway Center.

Terrence Ross scored 21 points and Nikola Vucevic recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Magic, who extended their winning streak to five games. The Magic (27-32) last won five straight during the 2015-16 season.

The 38-point margin of victory was the largest of the season for Orlando, which has won seven of its past eight.
