The Class 6A and Class 5A state swim meets begin Friday with prelims at Edmond Schools Aquatic Center.

Class 6A begins at 10 a.m., while Class 5A begins at 5 p.m. Finals begin at the same time Saturday. Here are eight swimmers to watch from the Oklahoma City area:

GIRLS Chloe Case, Sr., Edmond Santa Fe:

A distance swimmer, Case is looking to build off last year's strong showing in the 200and 500-yard freestyles. She's the top seed in the 500, but the second seed in the 200 by just 0.42 seconds.

Carlynn Fast, Fr., Putnam City:

She's had a breakout season, winning nearly each meet she's competed in. Fast is seeded fifth in the 50-yard freestyle and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a chance to make a big impression.

Hanna Newby, Sr., McGuinness:

The Oklahoman's two-time All-City Swimmer of the Year and Auburn signee has a chance to break her own records in the 200yard IM and the 100-yard breaststroke. She's set records the previous three years.

Sylvia Shaw, Sr., Carl Albert:

The Titans' speedster is Class 5A's top seed in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, but she may be challenged by teammate Maddy Scott in the 50.

BOYS Caleb Gregory, Jr., Bridge Creek:

He doesn't have a full team around him, so he swims with Norman Public Schools throughout the season. On his own, he's dominant as the top seed in the 50 and 100 freestyles.

Aiden Hayes, So., Norman North:

Last year's All-City Swimmer of the Year is Class 6A's top seed in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and also a key part of relay teams that could push the Timberwolves back atop the standings.

Max Myers, Sr., Edmond Memorial:

He's put together a strong senior season, and now he's likely to be in two exciting races with Norman North's Jonathan Tang. Myers is seeded second behind Tang in the 100 freestyle and third in the 50 freestyle.

Jonathan Tang, Sr., Norman North:

Can Tang hold off Myers? Last season, he won the 200 freestyle and finished second in the 100 freestyle. He can take the next step with two gold medals.
