A volunteer wrestling coach has been charged with six counts of rape from a reported sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl, authorities said Tuesday.

Joseph Dion Martinez, 27, was charged Friday in Oklahoma County with an additional four counts of forcible oral sodomy and one count of manufacturing child pornography.

Edmond police arrested Martinez on Feb. 1, the same day the 15-year-old and her father reported the relationship to a detective.

Martinez, of Edmond, pleaded guilty to second-degree rape in 2012 in McIntosh County and was sentenced to five years of supervised probation. He was ordered to register as a sex offender, but his sentence was later amended and required he register for only five years.

On Feb. 1, the detective conducted an interview at the Edmond Police Department with the girl, who said her father brought her to the police station because she was “sleeping with an older guy,” according to a probable cause affidavit. She said Martinez was a close family friend and had been sending her flirtatious private messages on social media.

The court affidavit states these messages became “more than friendly in nature,” in which he would tell the girl how pretty she was. Martinez later provided the girl with a secret cellphone for private communications, as her parents enforced a curfew on her personal phone, records show.

The relationship turned sexual for the first time when Martinez and the 15-year-old were camping together with both of their families at Arcadia Lake in Edmond, according to the affidavit. He sent her a message asking her to meet him in the bathroom, where they had sexual intercourse, according to the affidavit.

The girl recounted several more occasions in which they had sexual encounters, police reported. She also described an illicit encounter when she traveled with Martinez to Clinton where he was coaching a wrestling tournament, police said.

“Because their families are close, (the girl's) family did not have an issue with her going,” police said.

A forensic exam of Martinez's cellphone revealed a video showing the girl performing a sex act on him, according to the affidavit.

Edmond police spokeswoman Jennifer Wagnon said investigators found no evidence of Martinez having similar interactions with any other victims.

He volunteered with the Oklahoma Kids Wrestling Association, which organizes youth wrestling clubs and competitions. Directors for the organization did not respond to requests for comment Tuesday.

“There were no other victims that we found so far, and we don't have any reason to believe there are others in this case at all,” Wagnon said. “With an investigation like this, there could be someone that comes forward, but right now all of the charges that we have presented to the (district attorney's) office pertain to one victim.”

Martinez remains at the Oklahoma County jail on a $300,000 bond. Court records don't show any scheduled hearings for his felony case.
