SCOUTS WORRIED ABOUT MURRAY'S FATHER
NFL Network reported scouts are concerned about the level of involvement of Kyler Murray's father, Kevin Murray, heading into the draft
Like every entity covering the NFL Draft, the NFL Network has devoted plenty of time to discussing former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray.
The network's Tom Pelissero reported that NFL scouts were concerned about the level of involvement of Murray's father, Kevin Murray, leading up to the draft.
Pelissero also said that some scouts were concerned Kyler Murray would jump back to baseball if he didn't like his destination or if he didn't earn a starting job immediately.
Saturday, speaking during halftime of Oklahoma's basketball game, Murray said he was all-in on football and going back to baseball wasn't a consideration at all regardless of what happened with the draft.
It didn't take long for Sooners coach Lincoln Riley to fire back at Pelissero's report.
"Couldn't be further from the truth," Riley tweeted.
Riley went on to tweet that in three years of coaching Murray, he never had a conversation with Kevin Murray about anything football-related.
"Turned out decent," Riley said.
Oklahoma baseball coach Skip Johnson weighed in.
"Kyler is his own man," Johnson tweeted. "His entire family is very supportive of the decisions he makes. This is a non issue."
Murray is at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis this week, though it's unclear whether or not he'll participate in on-field workouts there.
