Cowgirls sweep Oregon, move into the top 15

Oklahoma State left nothing but a mess of feathers behind after a three-game series at Oregon over the weekend. OSU (18-5) took all three games from the Ducks, extending its winning streak to eight in a row. On Tuesday, the Cowgirls moved up to No. 14 in the ESPN/USA Softball top 25. Here's a look at OSU's big weekend and what's ahead: A Show and a bat flip While senior pitcher Samantha Show's biggest game was her shutout of the No. 24 Ducks on Friday, her biggest momentum boost came in the batter's box on Saturday. With the Cowgirls trailing 3-2 in the fifth inning, Show launched a no-doubt home run to left field, walked a few steps out of the box and flipped her bat into the air as she looked toward the OSU dugout and began her home run trot. Video of Show's bat flip went viral on social media. More importantly, the Cowgirls got one more run in the fifth, then three in the seventh — on home runs by Sydney Pennington and Sydney Springfield — then held on for a 7-6 victory. X-Factor OSU freshman Chyenne Factor has been on a tear during OSU's recent win streak, with the outfielder from Yukon gradually working her way up the batting order. Batting cleanup on Friday, Factor had an RBI single in the first inning, and a two-run home run in the sixth inning of the 3-0 victory. She had a hit and an RBI in each of the next two games and raised her batting average to .448 with three homers and 10 RBI. After starting two of the first 17 games, she has started in six straight, and hit safely in her last eight games. Up next OSU is on the early side of what will be a string of 13 straight road games, not playing at home again until hosting Texas on March 29. The Cowgirls are at Central Arkansas on Thursday (rescheduled from Wednesday because of weather), then play three in Oxford, Mississippi, next weekend, with one against Samford and two against Ole Miss. And OSU will visit Memphis for a Monday afternoon game.
