No. 2 Virginia rallies past NC State in ACC quarters

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Kyle Guy scored 29 points, including seven 3-pointers, and No. 2 Virginia rallied to beat North Carolina State 76-56 on Thursday in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament quarterfin­als.

Big man Jack Salt provided an unexpected offensive boost with a career-high 18 points for the top-seeded Cavaliers (292). Down 29-27 at halftime, Virginia shot 63 percent after the break and scored 49 points.

Virginia will play Florida State in the semifinals.

Guy made 10 of 13 shots and 7 of 9 from 3-point range.

Markell Johnson had 13 points for the Wolfpack (22-11).

ACC NO. 3 NORTH CAROLINA 83, LOUISVILLE 70:

Luke Maye had 19 points and nine rebounds, Coby White added 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists and No. 3 North Carolina beat Louisville 83-70 on Thursday night in the Atlantic Coast Conference quarterfin­als. Cameron Johnson scored all of his 14 points in the first half to help the Tar Heels (27-5) extend their winning streak to eight games. Dwayne Sutton had 14 points for Louisville (20-13). The Cardinals shot just 10 of 34 from 3-point range.

NO. 12 FLORIDA STATE 65, NO. 16 VIRGINIA TECH 63, OT:

Terance Mann hit a wild off-balance runner with 1.8 seconds left in overtime to help Florida State beat Virginia Tech in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament quarterfin­als. Mann's shot from the right side rattled around the rim before dropping through the net to break a tie for the fourth-seeded Seminoles (26-6). The fifth-seeded Hokies (24-8) had a final chance, but Nickeil Alexander-Walker missed a long desperatio­n 3-pointer at the horn.

Big Ten NEBRASKA 69, NO. 21 MARYLAND 61:

James Palmer scored 24 points and Nebraska shut down Maryland for the first big surprise of the Big Ten Tournament. Using a seven-man rotation because of injuries and backup guard Nana Akenten's suspension, the Cornhusker­s harassed the Terrapins into 36 percent (18 for 50) shooting and 11 turnovers. Glynn Watson Jr. added 19 points, and Isaiah Roby finished with 15. Nebraska (1715) earned a second win in the Big Ten tourney for the first time since 2016 and will face fourthseed­ed Wisconsin on Friday.

OHIO STATE 79, INDIANA 75:

Keyshawn Woods scored 18, Kaleb Wesson added 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds, and Ohio State hung on to beat Indiana in the second round. Woods scored a key basket in the closing minute.

MINNESOTA 77, PENN STATE 72, OT:

Amir Coffey scored

10 of his 22 points in the final minute, and Minnesota rallied for an overtime victory over Penn State in the second round. Coffey put the Golden Gophers (20-12) on top for good 69-66 when he drove for a 3-point play, burying the free throw after he got knocked to the floor by a rotating Josh Reaves.

SEC NO. 22 AUBURN 71, MISSOURI 71:

Bryce Brown scored all

17 of his points in the second half and Auburn beat Missouri in the second round of the Southeaste­rn Conference Tournament. Auburn (23-9) won its fifth straight to advance to the quarterfin­als Friday against fourth-seeded South Carolina. The Tigers also snapped a three-game skid at the SEC tournament dating to 2015 when they reached the semifinals. Jordan Geist had 25 points for Missouri (15-17).

FLORIDA 66, ARKANSAS 50:

Keyontae Johnson scored a career-high 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds Thursday as No. 8 seed Florida snapped a four-game skid by defeating No. 9 seed Arkansas in the Southeaste­rn Conference Tournament. Johnson, a freshman, recorded his second career-double.

ALABAMA 62, MISSISSIPP­I 57:

John Petty stuffed in a putback with a minute left to put Alabama ahead for good as the 10th-seeded Crimson Tide rallied and kept their postseason hopes alive Thursday with a victory over Mississipp­i. Alabama snapped a three-game skid by producing its biggest comeback of the season, as the Tide trailed the seventh-seeded Rebels by 16 in the opening minute of the second half.

Pac-12 WASHINGTON 78, SOUTHERN CAL 75:

Jaylen Nowell scored 24 points, David Crisp added 18 and Washington held off a late charge to beat Southern California 78-75 in the Pac-12 tournament quarterfin­als on Thursday. Washington hit 13 of 28 from the 3-point arc and moves on to Friday's semifinals.

COLORADO 73, OREGON ST. 58:

McKinley Wright IV scored 17 points and Colorado blew most of a 21-point lead before knocking off Oregon State in the Pac-12 quarterfin­als.
