KU's De Sousa gets year of eligibility back
Kansas forward Silvio De Sousa finally got some good news from the NCAA on Friday.
His education and career had been in limbo after the organization ruled in February that De Sousa was ineligible this past season and next season. But after the school appealed what it considered overly harsh sanctions, De Sousa was granted a reprieve from the NCAA's reinstatement committee.
He is clear to play next season.
De Sousa' s long road toward playing f or the Jay hawks again came after his name surfaced last summer in an FBI probe into corruption in college basketball.

Former Southeast High School a nd Oklahoma star Gerald McCoy isn't ready to commit to the Browns — or anyone else just yet.
The six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle visited Cleveland's facility for several hours Friday, but left without signing a contract, a person familiar with the meeting told The Associated Press.
However, the Browns and McCoy's agents are having "ongoing discussions," said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the talks. McCoy is expected to meet with other teams.
McCoy was r el eased earlier this week by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who didn't want to pay him $13 million next season and couldn't find a suitable trade.
Ndamukong Suh has agreed to a one-year deal with the Buccaneers as a replacement for McCoy. S uh helped the Rams make the Super Bowl last season.
Portland's Stotts signs extension
The Portland Trail Blazers have formally announced t hat coach Terry Stotts signed a contract extension through the 2021-22 season.
The extension for the Oklahoma alum was first revealed the day after t he Trail Blazers were eliminated from the postseason by the Golden State Warriors, but terms were not released.
Stotts, Portland's coach since 2012, led the team to its first appearance in the Western Conference finals in 19 years.
Blue Jays promote Cavan Biggio
Blue Jays prospect Ca van Biggio, the son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, was brought up by Toronto on Friday and set to make his major league debut against San Diego.
Biggio was in the lineup to bat eight hand play second base, the position where his father won four Gold Glove awards playing for Houston. The elder Biggio is in Toronto to attend his son's debut.
