Nun's end-of-life ministry plans events

Sister Maria Faulkner will host special p resent at ion and open house events Fri day at Gospel of Life Dwellings in Oklahoma City and Moore.

The Gospel of Life Dwelling (GOLD) ministry offers what Faulkner calls" end-of-life care" for older adults. The religious sister and a group of committed volunteers operate several residences where older adults with little or no family live and receive care.

Suzanne Clem, a registered nurse known as the Priests' Nurse for the Archdioces­e of Oklahoma City, will present a free learning session called" End of Life Care: Understand­ing Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Changes and How You Can Help" from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the St. James Gospel of Life Dwelling at 1145 SW 42. An open house will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. at the residence.

Clem will give the same presentati­on from 6 to 8 p.m ., also on Friday, at the St. John Paul II Gospel of Life Dwelling at 4113 S Eastern in Moore. An open house will be from 5 to 6 p.m.

On the first Saturday of each month, GOLD hosts a "funraiser" at the Moore residence. On Aug .3, the event will begin at 3 p.m. with ac hildren's piano recital from MissApronS­trings.com studio, followed by a tea party at 3:30 p.m. Then at 4 p.m., Mica Martinez and Austin Harkey will perform songs from the musical "Mary Poppins." The" fun raiser" is free and open to the public but donations are accepted.
