NORMAN Baptist group to host dinner

Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children will host its annual Back-to-School Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at Embassy Suites, 2501 Conference Drive.

The dinner will benefit Oklahoma Baptist Children's Home in Oklahoma City and Boys Ranch Town in Edmond.

Shonda Flowers, event coordinator, said the event theme is “His Great Love.”

The purpose of the event is to create community involvement and support for Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children and youths in the organization's care. With the money raised, a special fund is set up to provide yearly clothing and other basic needs for children living at the Oklahoma City and Edmond campuses. The organization does not charge for services or accept any government funds. “The Back-to-School Dinner Event is one way to share the love of Christ by meeting basic needs,” Flowers said.

The event creates revenue through individual and business sponsorships, as well as group fundraising with more than 1,000 in attendance each year. Before the event, patrons will be able to participate in the silent auction starting at 4 p.m. At 5:30 p.m. guests will enjoy a meal and be entertained by emcee Ed Murray, as children model their favorite outfit for school or church.

Tickets for the event are $20, and additional donations will be welcome. Reserved tables for 10 are available for purchase. For more information or to buy tickets, call 735-8343 or go to obhc.org/DinnerEvent.
