Oklahoma City Public Schools will open for enrollment next week as another academic year soon will begin.

All schools in the Oklahoma City school district will welcome families to enroll from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday for the 2019-20 school year. Classes begin Aug. 12. All Oklahoma City public schools will offer a two-hour enrollment window on Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. Families can register their children from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

The same schedule applies to all school sites in the district.

Wheeler Middle School Principal Deserae Jackson encouraged families not to wait until the last minute to enroll their children. Many families come to fill out enrollment forms as late as the first day of the school year, she said.

“I just want everyone to come enroll during enrollment ( next week) so we're not bogged down on the first day of school,” Jackson said. “Stressing the importance of getting them here next week is very important because they won't be able to start Day One if they don't.”

The district assigns students to schools based on location. Parents should use t he School Locator Tool on the“Back to School” page on okcps. org to identify their resident school.

When en rolling at a school site, parents must bring a photo ID, their child's birth certificate, immunization records and two proofs of residence, such as a bill for their home utilities, water, electricity or gas from June or July.

“The more prepared they are when they get here, it goes much faster and it's much smoother,” Jackson said. “They can get everything done in one fell swoop.”
