3 ex-OU softball players invited to Olympic selection trials

Former Oklahoma stand outs Sydney Romero, Shelby Pendley and Keilani Ricketts are among 30 softball players invited to participat­e in the U.S. national team selection trials for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The selection trials will be held Oct. 1- 6 at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City. The final 15-player roster and three replacemen­t athletes will be named when the trials conclude.

Romero graduated from OU this spring. The star infielder and her sister, Sierra, previously said they would play for Mexico in the Olympics.

OU's Secor, Milligan to play in U.S. Women's Amateur

Oklahoma golfers Ellen Secor and Kaitlin Milligan will compete in the U.S. Women' s Amateur, which begins Monday at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississipp­i.

The Sooner duo will play 36 holes Monday through Tuesday before the field of 156 competitor­s cuts to 64 for a match play tournament. The match play rounds, held Wednesday through Sunday, will be televised on Fox Sports 1.

Late Thursday: Bees power past Dodgers

Anthony B em boom singled twice and homered, driving in two runs as the Salt Lake Bees beat the Oklahoma City Dodgers 14-4 in the series finale Thursday in Salt Lake City.

With the victory, Salt Lake avoided a three-game sweep.

Jose Rodriguez (3-2) got the win with three innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Oklahoma City starter Dennis Santana (4-9) took the loss.

Sports card show set

Al's Sports Cards, 116 E 15 in Edmond, will have its monthly trading card show f r om 1 t o 5 p. m. Several dealers will be on hand at the in-store event, which is held on the first Saturday of every month.
