Rig count falls again in state, nationwide

Oklahoma's rig count fell by five this week to 88 while the number of working rigs dipped by four nationwide.

The national count dipped to 942, down 102 from 1,044 one year ago. The number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by six to 770, while rigs drilling for natural gas increased by two to 171. One rig was listed as miscellane­ous.

In Oklahoma, the count was 93 one week ago and 1 37 one year ago. The number of rigs working in the Can a Wood ford slipped by one to 48. The Permian Basin in west Texas and southeast New Mexico gave back one rig to 442, while t he south Texas Eagle Ford held flat at 66 and the Pennsylvan­ia- area Marcellus was unchanged at 56. The Haynesvill­e added one to 52.

Remington Park job fair set for Aug 5

Remington Park officials are preparing to hire nearly 50 employees in advance of the upcoming live thoroughbr­ed horse racing season. The thoroughbr­ed season job fair will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday in the racing lobby.

Available positions include bartenders, restaurant servers, security officers, cashiers and paramedic staff. Fulltime and part-time positions are open. During its live quarter horse and thorough bred racing seasons, Remington Park employs approximat­ely 600 people.

Live thorough bred racing begins Aug .23 and wraps up Dec. 1 5. Applicants must be available f or shifts on Wednesday through Saturday evenings during that time. Applicants should complete an applicatio­n online prior to going to the job fair.
