Uptown 23rd hosts new open house event

Beginning Aug. 10, the Up town 23 rd District Associatio­n will play host to a new event for the district, “Uptown 23rd Patio Parties.”

Patio Parties will occur from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month from August through October.

As part of t he event, businesses will be opening their doors offering specials and discounts, while the sidewalks and storefront­s will be programmed with live music, art, children's activities, beer gardens, tailgate parties and more.

Cox increases internet speeds

Cox internet speeds are now up to 50% faster at no additional cost, the company said Friday. The upgrades are automatic for Cox customers with the Preferred and Premier tiers of service.

Customers should experience increased speeds after re starting their modems, officials said.

“We have increased internet speeds every year for the last 14 years as part of our commitment to providing the best experience inside and outside the home. With speed increases, our customers can do everything faster and make their homes even smarter ,” said Christine Martin, director of communicat­ions. “It's how we help people make the most of their day and stay connected to the things they care about most.”

Cox customers with Premier service have download speeds up to 200 mbps (increased from 150 mbps), and customers with Preferred, the most popular tier of service, have download speeds up 150 mbps (increased from 100 mbps).

Cox is investing $10B over the next five years to continue leading the broadband market and enable future growth.

The company offers gigabit speeds to more than 95% of customers within its footprint, and all households will have Gigablast available by the end of the year.

EDMOND Oklahoman rings the NYSE closing bell

Victoria Woods, CEO of Chappel Wood Financial Services in Edmond and author of “It's All About The $ Money, Honey!” was in New York last week at t he New York Stock Exchange as a guest of Asset Mark Inc. Asset Mark played host to advisers throughout the country to watch as they rung the closing bell on July 19 in celebratio­n of Asset Mark's initial public offering.

“I am excited beyond words to have stood on the NYSE floor where so much history has occurred and legendary people have been for so many years," Woods said. "It was exhilarati­ng to participat­e in the ringing of the closing bell.”
