Livestock report from the Oklahoma City Stockyards: Oklahoma Weekly Cattle Auction Summary Livestock Weighted Average Report for the week of July 7 through Thursday. Receipts: 29,332; Last Week: 29,502; Last Year: 25,905 Compared to last week: Combined weighted average for 7 auctions: Ada, Apache, McAlester, Oklahoma City, OKC West, Tulsa, and Woodward. Feeder steers sold mostly steady to $7 higher. Feeder heifers mostly $2-$5 higher. Demand moderate to good for all classes. Steer calves $2 higher on a light test and heifer calves steady on a light test. Slaughter cows steady to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady to $2 higher. Demand was good. Temperatur­es were extremely warm across the state this week reaching into triple digits. Some much needed rain has moved across the eastern and central portions of the state just as the drought monitor began to worry producers. Warmer temperatur­es are expected to continue into next week. Supply included: 90% Feeder Cattle (57% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 39% Heifers, 4% Bulls); 6% Slaughter Cattle (90% Cows, 10 Bulls); 4% Replacemen­t Cattle (50% Bred Cows, 4% Bred Heifers, 45% Cow-Calf Pairs). Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled 82,685 head. Last week's total head count was 86,637.
