President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced his intent to nominate Oklahoma City attorney Jodi Dish man to be a U.S. district judge, replacing Vicki Miles-LaGrange.

Dishman, a 2005 graduate of the University of Oklahoma law school who clerked for two federal appeals court judges, must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

“Jo di' s extensive experience makes her a wellqualified nominee to serve as a District Court Judge for the Western District of Oklahoma,” said U.S. Sen. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma City.

“I thank her for accepting the call to serve our nation and state in this role, and I urge my colleagues to confirm her nomination in the days ahead.”

U.S. Sen. Jim In ho fe, R-Tulsa, noted Dishman's inclusion in The Best Lawyers of America and the Oklahoma Super Lawyers' list of rising stars.

“Jodi has proven herself time and time again and I am proud to see how much she will continue to accomplish for the people of Oklahoma in this new position,” Inhofe said.

Dishman, a shareholder at the firm of McAfee & Taft, declined to make a statement on Wednesday.

Dish man' s practice is focused on defending businesses, including insurance, energy and healthcare companies.

Her law firm biography cites three jury trials she won for her clients — two insurers and a hospital.

Dishman received her bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She graduated summa cum laude from the OU law school and was editor- inchief of the Oklahoma Law Review. She clerked for two judges on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and worked in private practice in San Antonio before moving to Oklahoma City.

Miles-La Grange, of Oklahoma City, who became the first African American judge in the 10th U.S. Circuit in 1994, took senior status late last year.
