A woman who lost her parental rights is accused of threatening to kill a judge and a Department of Human Services worker with a gun she bought from a pawn shop.

Lashandra R. Perkins, 36, was charged Wednesday in Oklahoma County District Court with a felony count of planning to perform an act of violence involving or intending to involve serious bodily injury or death of another person.

Prosecutors allege Perkins bought a firearm from Sooner State Pawn in south Oklahoma City and planned to use it to kill Special Judge Susan Johnson, who works in the Oklahoma Juvenile Justice Center, and Whitney Rowland, a DHS worker.

Perkins is accused of calling Rowland multiple times on Aug. 16 and leaving threatening voicemails, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. In the voicemails, Perkins tells Rowland she is going to die, a detective reported in the affidavit.

“The defendant tells the victim she is going to shoot her and describes the firearm she is going to use by giving the make, caliber and serial number,” the detective reported. “In the voicemail(s) the defendant mentions other state workers and a District Judge who were involved in a case in which the defendant lost rights to her child.”

Perkins reportedly purchased the firearm three days before she made the threats.

“This act showed the defendant endeavored to complete the threat by obtaining the firearm she threatened to use to kill the victim with just days before making the threat,” the detective reported.
