Late Thursday: Dodgers rally to take down Iowa

The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored six consecutiv­e runs over the fourth and fifth innings to overcome an early deficit and defeat Iowa, 9-4, Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Cubs raced to a 3-0 lead before the Dodgers tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. DJ Peters drove in two runs with a double to left field and Zach McKinstry grounded a RBI single into right field.

The Dodgers took the lead in the fifth inning, scoring three runs after two were out. Gavin Lux drew a walk and scored on a RBI double by Austin Barnes. Edwin Ríos followed and hit a towering home run to the Budweiser Deck in left field for his team-leading 30th homer of the season.

Iowa added a run in the seventh inning to cut Oklahoma City's lead to 6-4, but the Dodgers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning as the first six batters reached base without a hit. After Oklahoma City scored on a wild pitch, Zach Reks was hit by a pitch to plate another run before Connor Joe drew a bases-loaded walk to finish the scoring.

Dodgers starting pitcher Justin DeFratus (3-5) earned the win. Iowa's Colin Rea (14-4) took the loss on the day he was named PCL Pitcher of the Year.

Oklahoma City began its final series of the season on Friday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark against the New Orleans Baby Cakes. The last homestand continues Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday at 2:05 p.m. The final game of the season is Labor Day Monday with first pitch scheduled at 11:05 a.m.
