What to expect from new game day experience

Oklahoma football has announced several game day changes for the upcoming season. Here's what to expect when OU hosts Houston at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Getting in

Ticket self-scanners are new this year at Gates 1, 7 and 10. For the second year, fans will enter through metal detectors. A clear bag policy is in effect. Clear bags cannot be larger than 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches. One-gallon freezer bags are permitted. Once in the stadium, fans will be able to access free Wi-Fi. A team of Wi-Fi coaches will be available to help fans get connected.

Food and drink

Beer will be sold throughout the stadium starting this season. Service begins when gates open two and a half hours before kickoff. Beer will be available through the end of the third quarter. There will be a two-beer limit per person, per transactio­n. Among the featured food items: Hurts Donut burgers and crimson and cream funnel cakes will be sold out of food trucks at Gate 5. Hurts Donuts will also be available at Gate 7. Bacon cheddar tots and pretzel nacho knots will be sold at Gate 9. RibCrib BBQ spuds and sandwiches will be available on the east concourse near section 32.

Get your program

The game program will be printed in a smaller, playbill size format. The 96-page publicatio­n will be free for the first 20,000 fans each game.

Party at the Palace

OU's rebranded pregame event will be held on the lawn north of the stadium. It will begin three and a half hours before kickoff. The family-friendly event includes a jumbotron playing games across the country, face painting, balloon artists and a football toss. Food will be available from Midway Deli, The Meating Place and Whole Latte Pie.
