A 15- year- old accused of stabbing a high school crush “he knew he could never be with” has been charged with two felony counts and will face trial as an adult.

Tatum Dillon was charged Friday in Oklahoma County District with one count of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and one count of maiming.

Prosecutors allege Dillon stabbed a female student multiple times during an assembly on the first day of school at Luther High School in August 2018.

“During the school assembly ... the juvenile used a knife to assault and stab the victim multiple times in her head, body, torso and arms, and that the resulting injury caused the loss of feeling in the victim's hand,” according to a judge's order sustaining the state's motion for Dillon to be tried as an adult.

A worker with the Oklahoma County Juvenile Bureau testified Dillon told him the victim in this case “was a crush, that he knew he could never be with,” according to the order.

The victim's father, who testified at Dillon's certification hearing, said she suffered eight to nine stab wounds and was hospitalized for three days, according to the order.

A juvenile bureau psychologist testified “that if the juvenile did not receive the appropriate treatment he would present a danger to the community, specifically to the named victim in this case,” the order stated. The psychologist added “the juvenile was capable of killing someone if he was not adequately treated.”
