Edmond Memorial wins Heather Harkness Tournament

EDMOND–Trailing 12-7 in the fifth set, Edmond Memorial coach Natalie Murray used a timeout to calm her team.

"The girls just really wanted to win," Murray said. "There was no quit in them. At no point did they say, 'We've lost this game.' They kept fighting the entire time."

Deer Creek beat Jenks in five sets to win the third-place game, and Santa Fe was victorious in the Silver Bracket.

Former McGuinness star Joe Corbett records strong first pro season

After a stellar college career at West Texas A&M, the Texas Rangers selected Corbett in the 10th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft. He quickly got to work for the Spokane Indians in short season Class A, compiling a 3-0 record with a 1.61 ERA in 17 games. He also tallied 27 strikeouts. At West Texas A&M, Corbett earned the Ron Lenz National Pitcher of the Year honor for 2019, becoming the first player in Lone Star Conference history to claim the title. He was also named a Division

I I All - American. As a senior, he posted a 2.44 ERA, going 12-1 with five complete games in 92 1/3 innings. He recorded 136 strikeouts.

Corbett is the program's all-time leader in wins (23) and strikeouts (231).

Heritage Hall's Swindle, Del City's Tatum pick up Big 12 offers

Recruiting for two of Oklahoma City' s top juniors continues to pick up steam.

Heritage Hall's Melvin Swindle received his fourth offer Friday from Kansas. ESPN recently ranked Swindle as the state' s top prospect in the 2021 class. He's being recruited for both the offensive and defensive lines. On Monday, Texas Tech offered Del City's Rejhan Tatum. He also holds offers from Oklahoma State, Baylor and Kansas. Tatum, who's 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, is the younger brother of former Putnam City star Ron Tatum.
