OU's Landry Jones will reunite with Bob Stoops in Dallas and OSU's Taylor Cornelius heads to Tampa Bay

A pair of former Bedlam quarterbacks were among the first players to find a home in the XFL during Tuesday's quarterback assignments and subsequent first day of the new league's draft.

First, former Oklahoma quarterback Land ry Jones was assigned to the Dallas Renegades, whose coach and general manager is Bob Stoops.

Jones was the first player signed by the league.

In four years at Oklahoma, he threw for 16,646 yards and 123 touch downs. He still holds Sooners records for career passing yards, touchdown passes, 300yard games (27) and 400- yard games (12) among others.

Former Oklahoma State quarterback Taylor Cornelius, who threw for

Other locals picked

The Renegades got several other players with ties to Stoops and Oklahoma.

The Renegades also picked former Oklahoma fullback Dimitri Flowers and defensive end Frank Alexander.

Former Oklahoma receiver Jalen Saunders was taken in the seventh round by the Houston Roughnecks.

Former Tulsa receiver Key arr is Garrett was picked by the Los Angeles Wildcats in the eighth round.

Another former Sooner, linebacker Em manuel Be al, was picked in the sixth round of the defensive front seven phase by the Vipers.

Just before Alexander's pick in the seventh round of that phase, former Oklahoma State standout Jar re ll Owens was picked by the New York Guardians.

The draft continues Wednesday with two more phases — defensive backs and an open portion with special teams players and any remaining players in the pool.
