Schroder leads Thunder in rout of Golden State

Dennis Schroder tried to hide his grin when he found Nerlens Noel for a lob in the second quarter. Their two-man game was working against the Warriors.

Nearly everything Schroder and the Thunder did Sunday worked.

The reserve point guard had a team-high 22 points to go with six assists and eight rebounds in OKC's 120-92 rout of Golden State.

“I mean, I made a shot,” Sc hr oder said .“I didn' t shoot it very well the first two games, but I tried to stay aggressive and make the right decisions.”

Schroder was 5-of-22 in the Thunder's two losses to open the season. He was 9-of-13 in its first win.

“And I think one of the things Dennis doesn't get a lot of credit for, Dennis in my opinion is a great defender,” coach Billy Donovan said after the game. “He's got great feet, and he works and he's competitive … Coming off the bench, he gives us that spark to keep the momentum going.”

First half defense

The Thunder led the Warriors 70-37 at halftime. It was Golden State's largest halftime deficit since March 1997 against, coincidentally, the Seattle SuperSonics.

The Warriors shot just 27.5 percent in the first half and were 3-of-19 (15.8 percent) from three.

Steph Curry, with 10 points, was the only Warrior to reach double digits in the first half. Meanwhile, four Thunder players — Schroder, Terrance Ferguson, Danilo Gallinari and Chris Paul — scored at least 10 points in the first half.

OK C' s best first-half defensive performance last year came in October against

Boston, when the Thunder held the Celtics to 34 points.

Ferguson finds groove

Ferguson entered Sunday's game without a field goal in the Thunder's first two contests.

He reversed that trend quickly against the Warriors. Ferguson made his first three 3-point shots. And he finished the night with 13 points.

The Thunder outscored the Warriors by 30 with Ferguson on the floor.

Not the same Golden State

The Warriors br ought a depleted roster to Oklahoma City with Kevin Durant gone and Klay Thompson, Willie CauleyStein, Kevon Looney and Alec Burks all injured.

Forward Glenn Robinson III

and center Marquese Chriss

were thrown into the starting lineup, and Omari Spellman,

Jacob Evans, Jordan Poole, Eric Paschall and Damion Lee all logged at least 10 minutes.

Injury report

Hamidou Diallo (left ankle) played Sunday after not practicing Saturday.

Andre Roberson ( return to play management) still has no timeline for a return.

Tip-ins

Donovan recorded his 200th win as Thunder coach … Golden State guard D'Angelo Russell was ejected on back-toback technical fouls in the third quarter … Center Justin Patton made his Thunder debut in the fourth quarter … The 28-point win tied the Thunder's largestever margin of victory against the Warriors.
