Norman Chocolate Festival is a sweet deal for education
As if you needed any more reason to eat chocolate, this weekend it helps support education in Norman.
The 38th annual Norman Chocolate Festival is Saturday starting at noon and running until 4 p. m. at Norman North High School.
“It'll be the happiest place in town on Saturday,” said event organizer Annette Price. “All of the chocolate endorphins in the air, people are just happy.”
The event, organized by the Norman Parent Teacher Association, features 20 restaurants and business partners serving up their own chocolate creations.
Proceeds from the event will support education in Norman Public Schools through grants for school PTA projects.
Tickets are available in four, one-hour-long sessions. For the price of $50, premiere ticket holders get in the door first for the 12 p.m. session and receive 15 “tastes” from the different chocolate vendors. The 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. sessions will allow ticket holders to receive 10 tastes for the price of $30 a ticket.
A Happy Hour during the 3- 4 p. m. session includes a $25 ticket, 10 tastes, and a free "miniticket" for kids 12 and under per each regular ticket holder. Mini-tickets are good for 3 tastes.
Tickets can be purchased online at eventbrite.com or at the door.
For anyone wanting to attend the festival to hear live music or participate in crafts and activities for kids, no purchase is necessary.
“I love it because it is a giant party for Norman,” Price said. “People are enjoying one another and they are getting to reach out and learn more about their community.”
