Larson finally owns the Chili Bowl trophy

Kyle Larson scored one of t he biggest victories of his career by ending an 0- for -12 streak to finally win the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Tulsa.

Larson passed Christophe­r Bell of Norman with 17 lap sin Saturday night' s main event to end his fr ustrating streak of futility and deny Bella fourth consecutiv­e win in the prestigiou­s dirt race.

Bell passed Larson on the final lap of last year's Chili Bowl to hand the NASCAR star a crushing defeat.

"Its a pretty different range of emotions 365 days later ," Larson said after ward ." I feel like I' m going top ass out. I' m sorry NASCAR, I' m sorry Daytona, but this is the biggest ... race I've ever won."

"It' s taken me 13 years. That' s almost half my age ," Larson said ." I' ve been coming here for 13 years, and it feels better than I can imagine."

Bell, who moves full-time in NASCAR this year to the Cup Series, was second and Cannon McIntosh was third.

OU wrestling edges West Virginia

The Oklahoma wrestling squad defeated West Virginia, 22- 18, Sunday afternoon in McCasland Field House in Norman.

The Sooners (3-2 overall, 1-1 Big 12) capitalize­d on three bonus-point victories to pull ahead of the Mountainee­rs (3-8 overall, 0-2 Big 12).

Anthony Madrigal scored a technical fall at 133 pounds, Jacob Butler had a major decision at 149 pounds and Anthony Mantanona posted a major decision at 174 pounds for the Sooners.

Oklahoma won six of the 10 bouts.

RODEO Parkinson wins all-around title at IFR

Ty Parkinson of Salibury, North Carolina, was declared the allaround champion Sunday of the Internatio­nal Profession­al Rodeo Associatio­n after the final round of the Internatio­nal Finals Rodeo at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie.

The Australia native tallied $52,775 in earnings for the season to finish ahead of defending all-around champion Justin Thigpen of Waycross, Georgi a , who won $49,655.

Parkinson won the bull riding average at the IFR and earned almost $11,000 during the championsh­ip rodeo to overtake Thigpen in the all-around race.
