Oklahoma 529 College Savings Plan exceeds $1 billion mark

T h e Ok l a h o ma 5 2 9 College Savings Plan surpassed $1 billion in assets on Jan. 16, officials said Tuesday.

The program is set to celebrate its 20th anniversar­y later this year. The Oklahoma 529 College Savings Plan's earnings grow free from federal and state income tax and can be used for most costs associated with attending college or technology centers.

Contributi­ons t o an Oklahoma 529 College Savings Plan may qualify for a state tax deduction up to $20,000 for joint filers and up to $10,000 for single filers. Funds can be used at most accredited colleges, universiti­es and technology centers in the U.S. and internatio­nally.

“Surpassing $1 billion in assets reinforces the i mportance Oklahoma families place on higher e d u c a t i o n , ” S t a t e Treasurer Randy McDaniel said. “It also speaks to the significan­t investment­s families across the state continue to make each day for their higher education expenses like tuition, fees, room and board, books, and more. The state's tax-advantaged, easy-tomanage 529 plan offers many ways for families to save and contribute to their child's future. We are delighted to see Oklahomans utilizing these opportunit­ies.”

Remington Park job fair scheduled

Remington Park is preparing for its upcoming live quarter horse season by hosting their Remington Park Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 17 in the Racing Lobby at Remington Park.

Av a i l a b l e p o s i t i o n s include security officers, seasonal bartenders, restaurant chefs and cooks, servers, waitstaff, and track maintenanc­e personnel. Shifts are available 24/7 to accommodat­e various schedules.

“Our spring job fair helps our outstandin­g staff grow even more to maintain our high level of service and continue as one of Oklahoma City's preferred entertainm­ent destinatio­ns,” said Scott Wells, Remington Park president and general manager.

Wells said some employees may have the option to remain on staff after quarter horse season, which is from March 6 through May 30.
