Oklahoma rig count stable

Baker Hughes reported Friday that the number of rigs drilling for oil and natural gas remained unchanged in Oklahoma this week, while the national count fell by four. Oklahoma's count this week is 53, down 69 from 122 one year ago.

Nationwide, the active rig count declined to 790, down 255 from 1,045 one year ago. The count for rigs drilling for oil declined by one, to 675. The number of rigs searching for natural gas declined by three, to 112. The number of miscellaneous rigs operating this week is three.

The number of rigs working in the Can a Woodford declined two week-over-week, to 19. The most active basins this week, Baker Hughes said, are the Permian in west Texas and southeast New Mexico at 406, the south Texas Eagle Ford at 70, the Williston at 53, the Haynesville at 41 and the Marcellus at 40.

OERB Super Bowl spots set

Oklahoma' s oil and natural gas industry and its workers will be highlighted in commercial spots that will air on Fox in Oklahoma City and Tulsa before, during and after the Super Bowl on Sunday as part of a push to celebrate the contributions they make to their industry and state.

Oklahoma Energy Resources Board officials said this week that one of the commercials will appear during the pregame show and during the season premiere of “The Masked Singer” after the game.

The other will be broadcast during the game's third quarter, they said.

“We want the hardworking men and women who are dedicated to producing the resources that fuel our quality of life to know that they are making a difference ,” OERB Executive Director Mindy Stitt said.
