Heath insurance provider gives $1 million for community support CDC adds six new symptoms of virus

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention added six new symptoms of coronaviru­s seen repeatedly in the millions of cases of the virus around the globe.

The symptoms, which the CDC reports could appear two to 14 days after exposure to the virus, are: Chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and a new loss of taste or smell.

Previously, t he CDC listed just three known symptoms: shortness of breath, cough and fever. The CDC says children have similar symptoms to adults but generally have mild illness.

This list is not all inclusive. Please consult your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning to you.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma announced Tuesday it will spend $1 million to support COVID-19 hotlines in Oklahoma City and Tulsa and statewide COVID-19 response funds sponsored by the United Way of Central Oklahoma and the Tulsa Area United Way.

Oklahoma's largest member-owned health insurer said in a news release that it has also adjusted coverage policies to help members, including expanding access to telehealth coverage and waiving members' costsharin­g for COVID- 1 9 treatment.

“There is an unpreceden­ted need to help provide services to support Oklahomans during this pandemic crisis, and we are proud to share our resources and invest these funds where they are needed most across our state,” said Joseph R. Cunningham, M.D., president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma.
