Allied Arts turns ARTini fundraiser into virtual art auction
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Allied Arts its converting its 2020 ARTini fundraiser into a virtual art auction slated for 6 to 10 p.m. Friday.
Due to support from sponsors and ticketholders, Oklahoma artists will receive 100% of the sales on their sold art pieces, according to a news release.
As previously reported, ARTini 2020 was originally slated for March 27, and Allied Arts announced last month plans to postpone the event to June 26 because of the pandemic.
However, continuing attendance restrictions and social distancing guidelines in light of the pandemic prompted the nonprofit organization to convert this year's ARTini into a virtual event instead.
Friday's ARTini virtual art auction features more than 100 paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs and more by local artists. Additionally, participants will have the chance to bid and win on eight silent auction packages.
“Right now, local artists need support from the community,” said volunteer event-chair Amy Davis in a statement. “We are honored to offer a platform for them to connect with the community and keep 100% of the proceeds from their sold pieces.”
The theme for this year's event is “CAMPtini.” Billed as Oklahoma City's largest local art auction, Allied Arts ARTini is sponsored by Tito's Handmade Vodka.
ARTini bidding will open at 6 p.m. Friday, but participants are encouraged to download the Handbid app from Google Play or the App Store prior to the event to browse art pieces and mark favorites for easy bidding.
Before bidding, participants will need to register for the event through the app or at artiniokc.com.
Leading up to Friday's virtual auction, Allied Arts will share artist spotlights, sponsor shout-outs, martini recipes and more on their social media accounts @ AlliedArtsOKC.
