Dippin' Dots treats private Christian school students and their families

- Staff reports

Students of a local private Christian school recently received food and other supplies from Dippin' Dots.

Youths who attend Little Light Christian School were given Dippin' Dots swag bags and boxes full of supplies including canned foods, various produce and cleaning supplies. Scott Fischer, Dippin' Dots chief executive officer, said the boxes of supplies were designed to help the students' families because the youths no longer were able to attend school because of COVID-19.

The project was a way for Fischer, a metro resident, to give back to his local Oklahoma City community as sponsor of Little Light's family food box donations for the month of May. Little Light is a tuitionfree school for children of the incarcerated. Its mission is to break the cycle of generational incarceration.

When concerns about COVID-19 caused the school to close, the school mobilized to provide students with weekly school work packets to take home, plus the food boxes. Led by Fischer with support from professional wrestler and friend Thaddeus Bullard, also known as WWE star Titus O'Neil, Dippin' Dots packed boxes with supplies.

“The food boxes provided by Scott and Dippin' Dots means so much to our Little Light families. Some have lost their jobs and had to incur the extra expense of feeding their children three times per day rather than one. This donation will help ease the burden on caregivers that are already stretched to the limit,” Robin Khoury, Little Light Christian School principal, said in a news release.

“We are very grateful to Scott for his care and concern for children of the incarcerated.”

Many Little Light students live in a food desert. With Dippin' Dots help, the school is able to make sure that they have enough to eat. The boxes are packed and ready for pickup every Monday.

“I feel honored that I am able to give back to my Oklahoma City community during such a rough time for many families” Fischer said in a news release. “I have previously worked with the Little Light Christian School and truly believe in what it stands for. Now more than ever it is important for companies to give back and I am proud of the work Dippin' Dots has been able to accomplish for families in need.”

Dippin' Dots has produced and distributed its flash frozen tiny beads of ice cream, yogurt, sherbet and flavored ice products since 1988. Made at the company's production facility in Paducah, Kentucky, Dippin' Dots distributes its frozen products in all 50 states and seven countries through its franchised and direct distribution network.
