Honda recalls 1.6M vans and SUVs

Honda is recalling over 1.6 million minivans and SUVs in the U.S. to fix problems that include faulty backup camera displays, mal functionin­g dashboard displays and sliding doors that don't lat ch properly.

The problems were revealed in four recalls posted Tuesday by the government. They cover certain Odyssey minivans and Pilot and Passport SU Vs. Some vehicles are included in several of the recalls.

The largest recall covers nearly 608,000 Odysseys from 2018 to 2020, the 2019 and 2020 Passport and the 2019 through 2021 Pilot.

BANGKOK Thai Cabinet approves cannabis draft law

Thailand' s Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal from the Public Health Ministry t hat would all ow health profession­als, farmers and medical patients to grow, produce and export cannabis and its products.

Deputy government spokeswoma­n Trisulee Trisaranak­ul said Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirak­ul submitted a draft amendment to the Narcotics Act to expand access to medical cannabis in Thailand.

GENEVA UN agency hails child labor convention

The Internatio­nal Labor Organizati­on on Tuesday welcomed a global agreement to combat the worst forms of child labor as the first time all of its member states have ratified a convention — in a process that lasted 21 years.

The 101- year- old United Nations agency that brings together government­s, business and workers groups says ratificati­on formalized Tuesday by Pacific archipelag­o Tonga means all 187 members have ratified the convention. It was the fastest ratificati­on of a convention at ILO.

Booking.com cuts workforce by thousands as travel atrophies

Booking. com is laying off a quarter of its workforce — more than 4,000 people — with the global pandemic snuffing out travel.

Lay offs will begin next month and run through the end of t he year, according to parent company Booking Holdings Inc.

Booking Holdings, based in Norwalk, Connecticu­t, also owns the restaurant reservatio­n company OpenTable and Priceline.com.

The number of room reserved at Booking. com during the first quarter of this year tumbled 43%, to 124 million.
