Multiple projects affecting Edmond roadways

EDMOND — Work to repair a storm pipe under Westminste­r Road began Tuesday.

The project is expected to take about four days with cooperativ­e weather.

The area of Westminste­r Road impacted is between Coffee Creek Road and Sorghum Mill Road.

The road is fully closed during this work by the Public Works Department, and motorists will need to find an alternate route.

Covell Road closure set

Covell Road, between Griffin Boulevard and Lamond Hill Avenue, will be closed to through traffic beginning Friday to allow for Phase II of a widening project.

The road closure is expected to last through the early part of December while contractor­s install storm sewer structures under the roadway.

Local traffic will be able to access their property from the appropriat­e side, but through traffic will not be allowed to pass during this time.

Those wishing to access the following roads will need to access them from the appropriat­e direction:

•Access from West: Griffin Park Boulevard, Cove ll Lane and Lo ire Valley Drive.

•Access from East: Lamond Hill Avenue,

Shel bur ne Drive and Fairfax Boulevard.

Fifth Street work

Continued work on quiet zone improvemen­ts is impacting the railroad crossing at Fifth Street.

The work is part of an ongoing project to upgrade all 11 railroad crossings for implementa­tion of the quiet zone in Edmond.

The Fifth Street project began t his week with a full closure of the railroad crossing.

Work is expected to last about three weeks with cooperativ­e weather.

Traffic will not be able to pass through the area, and motorists will need to find an alternate route.
