Former Broken Arrow star Archie Bradley was traded by the D-backs to the Reds

Reds add former Broken Arrow High pitcher Archie Bradley

Cincinnati acquired former Oklahoma commit Archie Bradley from the Arizona Diamondbacks just before the trade deadline on Monday, boosting its bullpen as it tries to stay in the playoff race.

The Diamond backs received outfielders Josh Van Meter and Stuart Fairchild in the deal. The Reds also received cash considerations.

The 28- year-old Bradley has been an important part of the Diamondbacks' bullpen over the past four years and earned the closer's role midway through last season. The former Broken Arrow High School star has a 4.22 ERA and six saves in 10 appearances this season.

Bradley was selected by Arizona in the first round of the 2011 amateur draft. He is 22-25 with a 3.96 ERA and 28 saves in 249 career games.

VanMeter has played two season sin the big leagues. The 25- yearold hit .237 with eight home rs ,23 RBI sand nine stolen bases last season while playing first, second, third and left field. VanMeter has struggled in 2020, going just 2 for 34 at the plate in limited playing time.

The 24- year-old Fairchild was a secondround pick by the Reds in 2017 and split last year between Single- A and Double-A.

San Diego lands starter Mike Clevinger in trade with Indians

A feverish three- day run of acquisitions hit its apex Monday morning when the Padres acquired a legitimate No. 1 starter, Mike C levin ger, in a nine- player trade with the Cleveland Indians, the seventh and most significant player added to a club that's won 10 of its last 13 games and is a playoff lock in this pandemic-shortened season.

Certainly, the Padres are well-suited to compete in 2020's 16-team playoff tournament, perhaps to even threaten the Los Angeles Dodgers, the prohibitive favorites to make the MLB finals this year.

In acquiring Clevinger, the iconoclastic 29-yearold fireballer who fell out of favor in Cleveland after an ill-timed night out amid a global pandemic, the Padres now have a legitimate ace under club control through the 2022 season.

San Diego also received speedy reserve outfielder Greg Allen and a player to be named in the deal. The Indians will receive Nay lor,Qu an trill, catcher Austin Hedges, minor league infielders Gabriel Arias and Owen Miller and minor league lefty Joey Cantillo.
