Compared to last week: Feeder steers sold steady to $6 lower. Feeder heifers steady to $5 lower. Steer and heifer calves sold mostly steady to $5 lower. Demand moderate for all classes. Slaughter cows $1-$4 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady to $5 higher. Demand good. Rain and thundersto­rms were present across the trade region this week. A cold front is expected to move through the state next week bringing evening temperatur­es into the 40s. Supply included: 92% Feeder Cattle (55% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 41% Heifers, 4% Bulls); 6% Slaughter Cattle (88% Cows, 12% Bulls); 3% Replacemen­t Cattle (81% Bred Cows, 2% Bred Heifers, 17% Cow-Calf Pairs). SLAUGHTER CATTLE

Live trades in the southern plains $2 lower. In Nebraska live trades sold $2-$3 lower and dressed trades sold $3-$4 lower. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled 80,251 head. Last week's total head count was 100,762 head.

CATTLE SLAUGHTER Federally Inspected Cattle: 633,000 head up 10.9 percent from a year ago. Western Cornbelt Direct Lean Hog Base Price: Weighted average price of packers bids on a carcass basis Friday was $44.47.

HOG FUTURES: Dressed Basis: (74% yield): Oct. $59.83; Dec. $58.25; Feb. $63.03; April $67.88.

HOG SLAUGHTER Federally Inspected Hogs: 2.484 million head up 12.0 percent from a year ago.

SHEEP SLAUGHTER Federally Inspected Sheep: 34,000 head up 3.0 percent from a year ago.

GOAT and SHEEP Receipts: 738; Last sale Aug. 20, 2020: 726

Compared to the last sale Aug. 20, 2020: Slaughter Lambs were uneven with those under 70 lbs $8-$15 higher; over 70 lbs $8-$15 lower. Hair breeds sold $10-$20 higher. Slaughter Ewes $8-$12 higher in a light test. Slaughter Bucks $9 lower in a light test. Feeder Kid Goats were $1-$5 higher. Slaughter Kids sold unevenly steady. Slaughter Nannies sold sharply higher in a light test and Slaughter Billies not well tested. Demand moderate to good. The next sale will be on 09/17/2020.
