Mariners-Padres series moved to San Diego due to air quality

- Wire reports

The Mariners' upcoming series against the Padres has been relocated to San Diego due to air quality concerns in the Seattle area.

Five Major League Baseball games have now been moved due to wildfires. Forty- five games have been postponed due to COVID-19.

Seattle will be the home team for all three games of the series that begins Friday night, meaning the Padres could be in position to clinch their first playoff berth since 2006 while playing as visitors in their home ballpark.

CUBS: Umpires hastily cleared the field during a game against the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night when a small drone flew into Wrigley Field over the bleachers and landed on the grass in deep left center. As Willson Contreras came to bat with two outs in the bottom of the fifth and the game tied at 2, the device was spotted over the left-center stands. Before the drone landed, umpires rushed players into the dugouts. The blinking drone took off, hovered at about 100 feet, then pulled away and vanished past the vintage center-field scoreboard. METS: Ace Jacob deGrom is day-to-day after leaving his start Wednesday night with a right hamstring spasm. The right-hander was pulled on Thursday after only 40 pitches and one strikeout. PHILLIES: Right-hander Jake Arrieta will not pitch again in the regular season because of a strained right hamstring. Arrieta (4-4, 5.08 ERA) was injured against the Mets on Tuesday night. Manager Joe Girardi said on Thursday that Arrieta could return to the rotation if the Phillies make the playoffs.
