EDMOND

Phyllis Marie Whiteley, age 75, passed away peacefully after a long-term battle with several health conditions on September 12, 2020, in Edmond, OK.

Phyllis is survived by her sister Gayle Harper and brotherin-law Fred Harper of Edmond, OK and all their lineage, her “sweet son” David Whiteley, daughter-in-law Katie Whiteley, granddaugh­ter Megan Whiteley, step-grandson Andrew Tolsma of Minneapoli­s MN, and her longtime companion Richard Kinsey of Edmond.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Jackson Whiteley, father, Albert Britton, mother, Phyllis Britton, and brother, Arnold ‘Bud’ Britton.

Phyllis was born June 28, 1945 in Oklahoma City, OK, to parents Albert and Phyllis Britton. She graduated from Central College in Edmond, OK with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She proudly dedicated her career as a Landperson at Hazelwood, Inc. where she worked for more than 40 years.

Phyllis was social and active. She was deeply devoted to and involved in her church. She enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, water skiing, playing golf, and spending time with her family and friends; especially her dear granddaugh­ter, Megan. Phyllis was an internatio­nal globe trotter. Visiting, amongnst many other places, the Great Wall of China and the Great Pyramids at Giza. We will always remember her as smart, tough, kind, and generous. An example of life well lived, and one that will be cherished always.

A private memorial service will be held with close friends and family on Sunday, September 20.
