Vickie Elaine Guffey, 65, of Edmond, OK, passed away on Sept. 17, 2020, after a short illness. She was born on Jan. 2, 1955, to Henry Seth and Betty Jo Wood. Vickie went to Oklahoma City Public Schools and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1973. She began working for her father at Concho Construction Company, and later as a teller at First National Bank of Bethany. In 1978, she started work at Union Bank, where she met her husband, John Guffey. It was love at first sight, and they spent every day together from that moment on. They were married in Las Vegas on Dec. 1, 1978, and had four children. Vickie was a devoted stay-at-home mom and a lover of nature, music and her dogs. She enjoyed bird-watching, gardening, listening to the Beatles and spending time with her family at their condo at Shangri La on Grand Lake. She and John always looked forward to their annual vacations to Monterey County, CA, where they spent time bird and whale watching. They often drove to Lake Arcadia to watch the sunsets, the birds flocking in at night and the eagles nesting in winter. Vickie was preceded in death by her father, Henry Seth Wood "Dada"; and her brother, Henry Seth Wood, Jr. She is survived by her husband, John Guffey; her children, Sheila, Shawn, Brian, and Craig Guffey; and her mother, Betty Jo Wood. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Good Shepherd Hospice and Veraden Senior Living and to Gloria and Denice for their 24-hour loving care. Visitation will be held Sunday and Monday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at 11 a.m. in the Hahn-Cook/ Street & Draper Chapel with burial at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
