Industry chips in for Project House in Parade of Homes Fall Classic
What's striking about the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association's Project House in the Parade of Homes Fall Classic isn't just what can be seen inside it; it's what can be seen outside, through huge windows strategically positioned with views of the lake in mind.
Arranging the vantage points started with the lot itself at 2229 Stone Mill Court in the Waters Edge at Stone Mill addition in Yukon, said homebuilder-developer John Nail, who built it with his wife, Carrie. The 3,620-square-foot home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a half-bath featuring “traditional architecture with a modern flair.”
It's the association's first entry in the Parade of Homes, which it organizes, in
at least 10 years. Association members donated materials and labor. Proceeds will go to support the trade group.
The Parade of Homes Fall Classic, featuring 112 new homes by 49 builders, is Saturday through Sept. 27. Homes from Edmond to Norman and from Yukon to Choctaw will
be open free to the public from 1 to 7 p.m. each day of the event, co-sponsored by Metro Appliances & More and Samsung. COVID-19 precautions are recommended. Guidebooks are available at metro-area OnCue Express locations. The homes, details and an interactive map are available at www.Parade of HomesOK.com.
Inspiring site
The lake itself at Waters Edge at Stone Mill, on the west side of N Mustang Road, just north of NW 10, isn't the only sight to draw the eyes. Neighboring landscaping, neighborhood hardscaping and nature all contribute to the allure, Nail said.
The lake spoke to architect Tim Palone, who designed the home.
“The corner lot is perfect for this house. It backs up to a beautiful lake, which really influenced the decision,” Palone said in a video promoting the parade on social media.
“Part of my concept was to make sure that every major space in the house interacted with views of the lake.”
The water, trees, boulders and grounds provided a great setting for the home with its exterior combining brick, stone, stucco and touches of cedar and pine, Nail said.
Inside delights
The interior “will check all the boxes,” Palone said. “The grand entry, in particular, is a feature homeowners will love. The beautiful back patio is another key design feature, with plenty of room for relaxing, dining and entertaining.”
Other features:
• The kitchen has quartz countertops with full backsplashes, a waterfall island, pro-style appliances, oversize pantry, coffee bar, microwave and chilled water dispenser.
• The master bedroom has a coffered ceiling and wood flooring with hickory accents. The suite features a wet room with floor-toceiling glass, striking tile, double shower heads and a free-standing tub. There
are his-and-her vanities, plus a makeup vanity.
• Specialty paint finishes are found in the master bath, master hall enclave, and powder bath. Upstairs is a large bonus room/theater area, with a bar and beverage center, and two bedrooms with a full bath. The covered patio has a stone fireplace, wood ceiling, and motorized Phantom Screens. The home also has a study, mud room, alarm system, surround sound and irrigation system.
Other parade attractions
Stone Mill is one of two featured neighborhoods in the Parade of Homes. Travis Horton Homes also has an entry at 2308 Stone Mill Court.
The other is Timberland Creek, on the east side of Broadway Avenue 1.5 miles north of Waterloo Road in Edmond, with parade homes by Adam Ingram, of Bear Creek Homes, at 260 Old Farm Road, 300 Old Farm Road and 391 Old Farm Road, and by Shelly McSparrin, of Integrity Fine Homes, at 331 Old Farm Road.
Also, there is the House of Hope at 7412 Newman Court in Twin Oaks Canyon addition, south of Wilshire Boulevard just east of County Line Road. It was built by Patrick Vorderlandwehr, of Patrick Vorderlandwehr Homes, for the Oklahoma Home Builders Foundation. The 1,888-square-foot Farmhouse-style home has three bedrooms and two baths, and is offered for $264,300 as a children's charity fundraiser.
All proceeds from the sale of the home go to designated nonprofit organizations. Details are at www. HouseOfHopeOK.org. This year's recipients are CASA of Canadian County (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Cavett Kids Foundation, Infant Crisis Services, Positive Tomorrows and Shiloh Camp.
