Mayfield, Browns rebound with 35-30 win over Bengals

O dell Beck ham Jr. bounced back from a bad opener, Baker Mayfield played like he did as a rookie quarterbac­k and the Browns showed off their off en sivepyrote­chnics and potential on Thursday night in a 35-30 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, who had better build a wall around rookie QB Joe Burrow if they're going to ask him to throw 60 passes per game.

Beck ham' s numbers weren't spectacula­r— f our catches, 74 yards —but the speedster occupied two Ben gals defender sat times, opening up space for Cleveland' s other playmakers. His secondl ongest TD catch since coming to Cleveland made it 14-3 in the second quarter.

The Browns were balanced, running for 215 yards, passing f or 219.

They punted just once.

Mayfield went 16 of 23 with two TD san done intercepti­on. Cleveland's running game could be the envy of pro football. Nick Chubb ran for 124 yards and two scores while Kareem Hunt added 86 on 10 carries.

RAMS: Receiver Robert Woods has agreed to a four-year contract extension worth up to $68 million with the Los Angeles Rams. Woods is coming off two highly productive seasons for the Rams with 2,353 total yards receiving. CARDINALS: Larry Wilson, a former Cardinals safety and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, died Thursday. He was 82. He spent more than 43 years in the Cardinals' organizati­on as a player and an executive.
