- Stillwater's Brown commits Scott Wright, Staff writer

STILL WATER—Ga be Brown of Still water High School decided to stay close to home for college.

The junior linebacker committed to Oklahoma State, announcing his decision on Twitter on Monday morning.

“I can't honestly say that it was a tough decision for me,” Brown wrote. “I know a lot of people want to wait on more offers or a year or so, but I can't think of any place I'd rather play than Stillwater.”

Brown received his scholarshi­p offer last week. He's the second player committed to OSU in the 2022 recruiting class.

OSU-Kansas kickoff time set

Oklahoma State's first road game will bean afternoon contest.

The Cowboys will face Kansas at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 in Lawrence. The game will be televised by either ABC or ESPN.

Sills to face former team

Josh Sills will see some familiar faces on the opposite side of the ball when Oklahoma State hosts West Virginia at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Sills spent four seasons at West Virginia before joining the Cowboys as a graduate transfer in January. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound Sills started at left guard for OSU in the season opener against Tulsa last Saturday.

He was a second-team

All-Big 12 selection at the same position for West Virginia in 2018, then missed nearly all of the 2019 season because of injury.

“Josh has been really good for us ,” OSU coach Mike Gundy said. “He's come in and competed. It took him a while to get back in shape. He was off, then the virus hit and he went back home and, I think, hunted for three months, then came back and had to get in shape again.

“He likes to play football. He's a good leader, a great person. We're certainly glad that he's on our team.”

Four Cowboys honored

With Oklahoma State having the only game among Big 12 members on Saturday, the Cowboys swept the weekly conference awards.

OSU receiver Tylan Wallace was named Offensive Player of the Week for his four-reception, 99-yard effort against Tulsa. Malcolm Rodriguez was Defensive Player of the Week, finishing with 10 tackles and the Cowboys' only quarterbac­k sack late in the fourth quarter.

Kicker Alex Hale was Special Teams Player of t he Week after making all four of his attempts — three field goals and one extra point. And quarterbac­k Shane Illingwort­h was named Newcomer of the Week, hitting four of five passes for 79 yards and leading OSU's comeback with 13 fourth-quarter points.
